Attempt Suicide – Jumper on Balcony

You are dispatched to a local hotel to meet with hotel security about a guest who is standing on a 5th floor balcony threatening to jump.  Other resources are already en route, but you are the first Officer to arrive at the scene.


Anti-Police Interrupts Radio Call

You are providing cover for four Officers who are in the immediate action of handcuffing a female suspect, who is being detained pending an ADW (assault with deadly weapon) investigation. She is not violently resisting, but she shows signs of muscle rigidity. While providing cover to the Officers dealing with the suspect, you are approached from behind by a Hispanic male who is using anti-police rhetoric directed at you, and at the Officers dealing with the suspect. The agitator pulls out his cell-phone and begins to film you. You turn around to face the agitator and engage in a dialogue with him. Let’s explore this scenario now.


Disturbance with Mental Illness

You are dispatched to the home of a woman, complaining that her husband is tearing up the house and hasn’t slept in 96 hours. She tells the responding officer that he just came home a week ago from his third deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq and is having trouble adjusting to life back at home.



Death Notification

Officer is dispatched to deliver an out-of-state death notification.

The inmate is angry at a medical call.


Traffic Stop – Light Law Violation

While on patrol, at night, you observe a vehicle enter the roadway from a convenience store parking lot without its headlights on. You follow the vehicle, and when the driver fails to turn on the vehicle’s headlights you initiate a traffic stop for a light law violation.
